New Delhi: A still film of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination was shown in a parade held in Brampton, Canada. The Congress has urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take the incident seriously and talk to the Canadian authorities.
Canadian High Commissioner to India Cameron Mackay informed about this and said that he was shocked to see reports of celebrating the killing of a former Indian Prime Minister at an event held in his country.
There is no tolerance for glorification of hatred or violence in Canada. “I condemn such activities,” Mackay said in a tweet. Congress leader and former Union Minister Milind Deora shared a video of Indira Gandhi’s assassination at a recent parade in Brampton that went viral on social media.
As an Indian, I was shocked to see a still image depicting the assassination of Indira Gandhi during a 5 km long parade in Brampton, Canada,” Deora had tweeted. Jairam Ramesh, who tagged Deora’s tweet to Foreign Minister, demanded that Dr S Jaishankar should seriously discuss this with Canadian officials.
