A significant change in the cadre of key officials at the Centre
New Delhi: There is a significant change in the cadre of central officials, 29 senior officials have been appointed as joint secretaries to various departments of the central government. Vyasan R, a 2007 batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Now he is working as Director of Prime Minister’s Office.
Sanket S Bhondve, secretary to Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, has been transferred to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Alok Tiwari, Secretary to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, will continue on a co-terminus basis at the level of Joint Secretary.
Senior officers Pausumi Basu and Anant Kishore Saran have been appointed as Joint Secretaries in the Home Ministry. Vipul Agarwal, a 2001-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Gujarat cadre, will henceforth serve as Joint Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Virender Mittal has been appointed as the Cabinet Secretary, Ajit K Sahu will serve as Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, while Bishwajit Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of AYUSH.
Abhishek Dev, a 2007 batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, has been appointed as the Chairman of Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Department of Commerce.
Rajat Kumar Saini has been appointed as the CEO and MD of National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited under the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion.
