A day after Udupi drowning tragedy, body of drowned woman found
Udupi: It was reported that a young woman drowned on August 1, Sunday in Malpe beach near Udupi. Her body was recovered August 2, Monday. Near sea walk, the body was found floating.
The victim has been identified as Dechamma. Her body was shifted to a mortuary in Manipal.
On Sunday, Dechamma, two other women and a young man from Kodagu had arrived early in the morning at Malpe beach. They reportedly continued to play in the seawater even after being warned by locals.
Minutes later all four of them were struck by a strong wave. Dechamma went missing while the three others were rescued by locals.
A case has been registered at Malpe Police station.
