Dakshina Kannada may relax interstate travel curbs :S Angara,
MANGALURU: Following requests, S Angara, minister for fisheries, ports and inland transportation, said he will discuss the issue of travel restrictions for people coming from Kerala with the chief minister and decide on easing norms.
Daily commuters from Kasaragod district in Kerala have been urging the government to withdraw its order which makes negative RT-PCR tests mandatory to enter Dakshina Kannada.
Sathyarthi, a forum of interstate commuters from Kasaragod, met ministers Kota Shrinivas Poojary and Angara and district deputy commissioner Dr KV Rajendra and urged them to lift restrictions. They said cases in Kasaragod district have been falling. However, the DK district administration said it will relax rules only if the government issues an order.
Angara said he has received a memorandum from Kannadigas in Kasaragod, asking for curbs to be eased. “I understand their problem. I am scheduled to travel to Bengaluru today and I will discuss the issue with the CM. Considering the current situation, the government will take a decision to solve the problems of Kannadigas in Kasaragod,” he said.
Minister Poojari had also promised members of the Sahayathri that the issue will be resolved soon.
