Bengaluru police in Pulakeshinagar launched a focused probe on Friday after a suspected improvised explosive device detonated at an under‑construction house, leaving two people injured.
Investigators have already sifted through footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and organized five special teams to trace the origin of the explosive material and the parcel that triggered the blast.
The enquiry centres on how the bomb components were sourced and who delivered the box that concealed the device. Officers are also tracking the individual who handed over the parcel, suspecting that an associate of the main perpetrators may have placed it at the site.
Statements have been recorded from both injured parties. Allauddin, now discharged, gave conflicting accounts: he first claimed a man gave him the parcel, then said the box had been left near the building and he picked it up himself. The police are working to reconcile these versions. The second victim, Suraj, remains unable to provide a statement until his health improves.
Rahman, the owner of the construction site, denied any involvement and asserted he had no knowledge of the incident or any personal enmity that could explain it. The East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police is overseeing the investigation.
While the Forensic Science Laboratory report is still pending, the National Investigation Agency has requested a detailed briefing from Bengaluru police and may step in for a deeper probe. Local police and the Anti‑Terrorist Squad continue to examine evidence, CCTV clips and witness accounts to identify the culprits and determine how the IED was concealed inside a box that security staff were told contained a torchlight.
