Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy ended his dhara outside the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s office on Thursday after receiving an assurance from Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. He warned that the police must act within two days against those he says are behind the sting operation that targeted former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The protest, lasting about one and a half hours, involved JD(S) leaders and workers. After a roughly thirty‑minute meeting with the commissioner, Kumaraswamy withdrew the demonstration and announced the deadline.
During the brief address, he demanded that the individuals responsible for the alleged sting be identified and that the truth about their connections be revealed. He said, “Following the assurance given by the Police Commissioner, I am giving them a two‑day deadline. The prominent person behind this misused the media and resorted to illegal activities, bringing disrepute to the media. He is also seen joining hands with Chief Minister Shivakumar and is reportedly very close to Randeep Singh Surjewala.”
Kumaraswamy also referred to a photograph showing an assistant to the media person involved in the episode, noting that the assistant has been arrested. He claimed attempts were being made to link his name to the case through that individual and insisted that the real contacts of the main accused be exposed.
The minister accused Home Minister Priyank Kharge of failing to ensure a proper investigation and alleged that the minister and a few police officers were trying to hush the matter. Earlier, he had challenged the state government to investigate him and his party workers if any evidence existed, calling for a fair inquiry under judicial supervision rather than a CBI probe.
He urged Chief Minister Shivakumar and Priyank Kharge to appoint a retired judge for the probe, stating that he would cooperate if any wrongdoing by his workers was proven. Kumaraswamy concluded by saying that if the police do not act within the two‑day window, he will resume the agitation.
