On Saturday, October 10, seasoned activists who marched in July gathered again in Delhi to back the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in a new demonstration. They arrived equipped with extra masks, swimming goggles, raincoats and water‑proof clothing, anticipating a possible police lathi charge.
Heavy police presence was evident behind multi‑layered barricades near Janpath metro station. Officers inspected entrants as digital posters and hand‑made political artwork were handed out, many highlighting illegal detentions and the lack of name tags on police personnel.
One participant, identified only as Hardik, explained that he had prepared digital artwork focusing on the same themes and urged newcomers to carry at least two masks and goggles. He recalled previous protests demanding the resignation of former Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the July 20 march to Parliament, which drew politicians, actors and a broad public despite tightened security.
The current CJP agenda calls for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter‑list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision and irregularities linked to Form 6. Organisers aimed to assemble at Jantar Mantar, but Delhi Police denied permission, citing insufficient notice and compliance concerns.
Because of the denied permission, the planned gathering did not materialise on a large scale. Barricades and a robust security deployment kept protesters from reaching the venue, and several demonstrators were detained at various checkpoints.
