International Cricket Council chief executive Sanjog Gupta announced in New Delhi that the governing body will back the Chinese Cricket Association in organising a Tier 2 international match series in China and in helping set up a Centre of Excellence modeled on the ICC Academy in Dubai.

Gupta, who assumed the ICC helm in July, told PTI that the partnership aims to make cricket more reachable and to give a particular push to the women's game. He said the Chinese Cricket Association has asked for ICC assistance to fast‑track player development and to upgrade high‑performance facilities.
