On Wednesday, 7 October 2026, a coalition of opposition parties known as the INDIA bloc met Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar to demand the immediate cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll and the reinstatement of 47.56 lakh names that had been removed from the draft list.

The delegation, which included senior leaders from the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Communist Party of India, CPI(M), CPI(ML), Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc and Trinamool Congress, walked from Kashmiri Gate to the election office. After reaching the premises, they handed a memorandum outlining their grievances and the corrective steps they expect.
