The Social Democratic Party of India's (SDPI) Beltangady unit has formally requested a thorough investigation from the Tahsildar regarding claims that seven voters in Sanjayanagar, Ward No. 122, within the Beltangady Town Panchayat limits, had Form-7 applications submitted in their names without consent. This development, concerning the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) process, emerged recently when the party filed its complaint.
The complaint specifically names Khadri B, Felix D'Souza, Roshan, Dalvin Biju, Abdul Majeed Bangadi, Hamza Irfan B, and Nizamuddin as the affected individuals. These voters have reportedly stated they never initiated any such applications or objections for the removal of their names from the electoral roll. Form-7 applications are typically used to request the deletion of a voter's name.
SDPI's petition emphasizes the critical need to verify the authenticity of original documents, signatures, and personal details on these disputed applications. The party insists on identifying the individuals responsible for submitting these forms and tracing the channels through which they were filed.
Furthermore, the SDPI urged an examination of the role played by those involved, including Padmakumar Kulal, who serves as a Booth Level Agent (BLA), based on available documents and evidence. Until the investigation concludes, the party has called for necessary measures to prevent the removal of eligible voters' names from the electoral roll based on these contested Form-7 applications.
The complaint also seeks verification for potential similar unauthorized submissions involving other voters within the Sanjayanagar ward. If culprits are identified, the SDPI demands immediate legal action.
Prominent SDPI members present during the complaint submission included Akbar Beltangady, SDPI Beltangady Assembly President; Nawaz Katte, District Secretary; Saleem G.K., SDTU State General Secretary; Rashid, Field Secretary; Mustafa G.K., Committee Member; Sadiq Laila, Laila Block Secretary; and Advocate Asma Beltangady. Affected voters Khadri B and Nizamuddin were also present, alongside locals Umar, Abbas, Inaz, and Hameed.
