Mangalore, A.3: On Saturday, the Beary Adhyayana Peetha, operating under Mangalore University, organised Beary Language Day at the auditorium of the Bearys Institute of Emerging Sciences. The event opened with remarks from the institute’s principal, Dr. Azhee&zlig;z Mustafa, who highlighted the richness of the Beary tongue and its lack of a dedicated script.
Dr. Mustafa drew a parallel with English, noting that the global language also relies on the Roman alphabet. He argued that documenting Beary using the Roman script is essential for its growth, and urged students to take part in this documentation drive.
Emphasising the role of technology, the principal called for the use of social media and modern apps to promote the language in today’s digital age. Lecturer Raihan V. K. Sacharipete delivered a detailed lecture on the significance of the day, while the event was chaired by the Peetha’s coordinator, Dr. Abubakar Siddique.
Key participants included Abdul Razak, administrator of the Bearys Knowledge Campus; Prof. Abdul Latif, principal of Bearys Integrated Pre‑degree College; and Peetha members B. A. Muhammad Haneef, Bashir Baikampadi, Hamza Malar and Moideen Badsha Sambaratot, each sharing insights on language preservation.
On stage, Dr. Ismail N. welcomed the audience, followed by a presentation from lecturer Niyaz and a smooth programme hosted by Shahada. The gathering underscored a collective resolve to document, teach and modernise Beary, ensuring its vitality for future generations.
