On Saturday 3 October 2026 a resident of Ahad Rafidah in Saudi Arabia's Asir governorate was hurt after debris from a ballistic missile fell on a local building.
Saudi air‑defence units intercepted the missile launched by the Houthi militia, destroying it in the air. Surviving fragments descended onto the town, striking a prayer hall inside a residential block and scattering across the prayer rugs.
Photographs released by the Civil Defence showed sharp metal pieces piercing the hall ceiling, while nearby cars suffered cracked sunroofs and dented bodywork. The injured civilian received prompt medical assistance, and rescue teams inspected the damaged structures before implementing safety measures.
In a separate event in Najran, Civil Defence reported that an enemy projectile also launched by the Houthi militia landed on a school, causing material damage. Authorities followed standard procedures to secure the site.
Both incidents occurred as the Houthis stepped up missile and drone strikes aimed at Saudi cities and critical energy infrastructure, heightening tension along the Saudi‑Yemeni border. The group claimed that Saudi forces had carried out 94 air strikes against Houthi‑held areas in Yemen within the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of Saudi attacks since the renewed fighting began to 1,350.
