On September 28, 2026, the Emirates Telangana Cultural & Welfare Association (ETCA) handed a cheque worth Rs 60,000 to the bereaved family of Ponnam Harish in Konapur village, Karnataka, after the 42‑year‑old worker suffered a fatal cardiac arrest in Sharjah on September 8.
Harish, a migrant labourer from Telangana, left behind a wife, Jalaja, a son, Rohan, and his mother, Kamala. The association disclosed that the household now carries debts exceeding Rs 10 lakh, a burden that prompted immediate financial help.
ETCA founder‑president Kiran Kumar Peechara oversaw the distribution of the aid. Rs 50,000 was earmarked for a fixed deposit to fund Rohan’s education, while the remaining Rs 10,000 was handed over to cover urgent household expenses.
Earlier, ETCA coordinated with the Consulate of India in Dubai to repatriate Harish’s mortal remains. The Telangana government facilitated the transfer by providing an ambulance that moved the body from Hyderabad to Konapur.
Grateful for the support, Harish’s family thanked the association members and other contributors who helped ease their financial distress during this difficult period.
