VITLA, Dakshina Kannada – The 25th annual Urs (Ne&rch) of the late Shaikhuna Suribailu Ustad and the Jalaliyya Ratheeb Majlis will take place on October 1 and 2, organisers said on Friday.
According to Haji Hameed Kodangayi, coordinator of the Welcome Committee, the celebrations will begin on Oct 1 at 5:30 PM with a flag hoisting followed by a Makham Ziyarat led by the institution president Valemundov Ustad. The Jalaliyya Ratheeb spiritual Majlis will feature Sayyid Chattekkal Thangal, several other Sayyids and prominent Ulamas, with a discourse delivered by Noufal Saqafi Kalasa.
On Oct 2, a Burda Majlis will be conducted under the guidance of Sayyid Thaha Thangal and Mihraj Thangal, while Shaikhuna Manchi Ustad will lead the Dua. After the Friday Juma prayers, Shaikhuna Bolmar Ustad will preside over a Khatmul Qur'an Majlis. Following Asar prayers, a sandal procession will start from Bolanthur and walk to Ash‑Ariyya, led by Sayyid Madaka Thangal, drawing hundreds of well‑wishers from across South Karnataka.
General Manager Muhammad Ali Saqafi highlighted that Suribailu Darul Ash‑Ariyya Educational Center, located in Bolanthur village, has offered free religious and secular education for 28 years. The centre currently serves about a thousand students, with 200 children receiving both tuition and boarding at no cost.
The valedictory function will see participation from numerous eminent Ulamas such as Shaikhuna Mani Ustad and Shaikhuna Perod Ustad, as well as social and political leaders. Welcome Committee Chairman Sulaiman Haji Singari, convener Mohammed Madani and finance convener Yusuf Panela are also expected to attend.
