The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau carried out raids on Monday at the residences and offices of Additional District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Diwakar and his wife Kumari Sweety's in Patna and Begusarai, recovering cash, jewellery and watches worth millions.
Search teams recovered Rs 70.53 lakh in cash from the couple's flat in Patna and an additional Rs 9.44 lakh from their Begusarai house, bringing the total cash haul to almost Rs 80 lakh.
Authorities also seized gold, silver and diamond jewellery valued at Rs 52.60 lakh. Items recovered from Patna were appraised at Rs 23.89 lakh, while those from Begusarai fetched a provisional value of Rs 28.70 lakh.
In addition, 48 wristwatches of various brands were taken into custody, with an estimated worth of Rs 6.01 lakh.
The investigation uncovered seven immovable properties registered in the couple's names between 2017 and 2026. These include two flats in Danapur, three plots covering 11.7 decimals in Phulwari Sharif and two plots totalling 24 decimals in Begusarai. Purchase documents suggest a combined market value of roughly Rs 2.92 crore.
Ravindra Kumar Diwakar began his career as a teacher in 2000 before moving into administrative roles across Saran, Katihar, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Samastipur, Gaya and Patna, eventually becoming Additional District Magistrate (Supply) in October 2025. His wife, Kumari Sweety, entered the Sub‑Registrar service in 2013, serving in Teghra, Haveli Kharagpur, Sakra and, since 2024, Danapur.
During the searches, officials collected documents related to investments and bank accounts, and two of the couple's accounts are being frozen. The Technical Examination Cell
