Principal Dr. Prabhat Balnad of Jain P.U. College addressed participants at the seventh annual Kambala training camp in Moodabidri on Monday evening, emphasizing that true leadership is fundamentally about nation-building. Speaking at Srushti Garden, Ontikatte Kadalakere, as a resource person on the camp's third day, Dr. Balnad outlined essential attributes for effective leaders, from vision to empathy.
He detailed that qualities such as a clear vision, foresight, strong communication abilities, self-confidence, decisive action, a sense of responsibility, empathy, loyalty, and robust problem-solving skills are crucial for anyone aspiring to lead. Furthermore, the capacity to inspire others stands as a cornerstone of impactful leadership, he noted. Dr. Balnad underscored that while every individual possesses latent leadership potential, fostering order and strength within oneself and one's home is the initial, fundamental step towards building a powerful nation on the global stage.
Connecting his discourse directly to the local context, Dr. Balnad asserted that becoming a leader within the traditional Kambala sport is a significant form of national service. He highlighted Kambala's vital role in preserving and promoting coastal Karnataka's rich cultural heritage, urging trainees to seize the opportunities presented by the sport to further both their personal development and the community's legacy.
The evening session, part of the extensive training initiative by the Kambala Conservation, Management, and Training Academy, Miyaru Karkala, saw Gunapala Kadamba, convener of the Kambala Academy, preside over the gathering. A host of other notable figures attended, including Nihal Shetty, Secretary of City Lions Club Karkala; Physical Education Teacher Kishore Hosmaru; Yoga Trainer Naveen Amboori; Announcer Ravindra Shetty Kukkundoor; Moodabidri Press Club Secretary Premashree Kallabettu; and Jwala Prasad. The program also featured trainee Uttam presenting a comprehensive team report, while Harshith Shetty Balakunje from the Kush team skillfully compered the proceedings. Digant Santya concluded the enlightening evening with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
