Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji, the Jagadguru of Sri Ramachandrapura Math, addressed a gathering on the relationship between physical health and spiritual insight at the Ashoka original math in Gokarna. The discourse took place during the Annapurna Chaturmasya Dharma Sabha, held on a recent day that attracted devotees and local dignitaries.

Speaking from the “Annam Brahma” platform, the Mahaswamiji explained that Indian tradition does not treat health and self‑knowledge as separate pursuits. He argued that any practice beneficial to the body also supports the mind, citing ghee as both a nutritional aid and a catalyst for inner awareness. According to him, ghee enhances the sattva quality, sharpens concentration, and prepares the practitioner for deeper meditation.

The guru also described the elemental nature of ghee, comparing it to fire while noting its cooling effect on the body. He said that during yogic practice, participants should consume milk and ghee to create a conducive atmosphere, allowing the inner fire to awaken without causing excess heat. This balance, he asserted, mirrors the convergence of the three gunas—sattva, rajas, and tamas—into a state of samadhi, which he equated with true self‑knowledge.

Notable attendees included Brahmashri Nileshwar Ucchillattaya, former legislator Sunil B. Nayak, JDS district president Suraj Nayak (Soni), entrepreneur Prabhakar Karanagiri, and a Mumbai couple, Ramana and Bhatt, who offered guru dakshina. The Mahaswamiji emphasized that the “Annam Brahma” sermon is intended to guide personal practice rather than praise any individual, urging listeners to integrate the teachings into daily life for holistic growth.
