Former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenai announced a new movement, 'Nanu Ganapati,' and her intention to establish a registered organization, also to be named RSS, during a press conference at the Mangaluru Press Club on Thursday, September 10. The proposed organization aims to commemorate DySP Ganapati and will mirror the 'Nanu Gauri' movement.
Addressing the media, Shenai outlined that her new RSS would welcome common citizens, retired government employees, former soldiers, and retired police personnel. She emphasized the necessity of registering this new entity, citing concerns that government employees currently face unfair treatment because the existing RSS remains unregistered. Furthermore, Shenai alleged that Dalits do not receive adequate opportunities within the present RSS structure.
Shenai also sharply criticized the suspension of two teachers who participated in an RSS walkout. She questioned the rationale behind these actions, especially given the Chief Minister's public association with the RSS, evidenced by his singing 'Namaste Sadavatsale' and accepting rakhis from its members. Shenai highlighted that RSS leaders themselves define their organization as an NGO, not a political body. She pointed out that government officials routinely participate in programs organized by various NGOs without facing suspension, drawing a clear parallel and challenging the discriminatory treatment of the teachers.
For the leadership of her envisioned registered RSS, Shenai stated her firm insistence that Minister Priyank Kharge serve as its inaugural convenor, expressing confidence he would accept the role. She recalled that Kharge himself had previously championed the registration of the RSS. While proposing the name Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Shenai indicated openness to alternative suggestions from the state's populace for the organization's official title.
Concluding her address, Shenai touched upon broader political issues, asserting that the Enforcement Directorate's action against MP Priyanka Jarakiholi constituted an attack on Jen G. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend forgiveness to Priyanka Jarakiholi, drawing a comparison to his earlier pardon of the "cockroach party."
