On Wednesday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials carried out a nine‑hour search of the government‑allotted residence of Karnataka Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi in Bengaluru, while his supporters gathered outside to demonstrate their opposition.
Activists assembled near the Dollar’s Colony house, brandishing placards that read “ED puppet in the hands of the Central government”, “Let politics of hatred stop, democratic values sustain” and “We won’t bow down to ED pressure tactics”. Their chants targeted the central agency and expressed solidarity with the minister.
The raid began at approximately 7 a.m. and formed part of a wider sweep that spanned 18 locations, according to ED sources. Local police managed the crowd, and Central Reserve Police Force personnel were stationed at the premises. During the operation, investigators questioned Satish Jarkiholi, recorded his statement, and confiscated documents, papers and other materials. Vehicles parked inside the compound were also examined, and a carpenter was summoned to assist, remaining inside the house for more than an hour. Even as the search progressed, the team ordered lunch from outside the residence.
Parallel investigations targeted properties linked to the minister’s family. Search teams inspected homes belonging to his daughter, Congress MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, and his son Rahul Jarkiholi. Priyanka Jarkiholi was present at her Belagavi residence when officials arrived.
