Late on Monday night, just before midnight, Mangaluru City Police executed a surprise raid on the A‑Block of the district jail in Mangaluru, seizing ten mobile phones that had been smuggled in by prisoners who are currently in judicial custody.

The operation was triggered by a specific intelligence report that suggested contraband electronics were being used inside the facility. Teams of uniformed officers entered the block after the regular shift had ended, systematically checking each cell. Their search uncovered smartphones hidden by nine detainees – Rifat Ali, Ibrahim Khalil, Ashfaq alias Juttu Ashfaq, Arshad, Dawood Farvez, Nazrat Ali, Shifan, Abdul Sadiq and Arfaz.
