Udupi will host the Vanasuma Jaycee Week cultural festival from September 9 to 15, with daily evening programmes beginning at 6 pm at the Muddana Mandapam of MGM College.
The event is a joint effort of JCI Udupi City, Vanasuma Trust and Vanasuma Forum. Basuma Kodagu, the week director, announced the schedule during a press meet held on September 7.
Opening ceremonies will be led by Gaurish Bhargava, Director of JCI Week, JCI India, while Pallavi Kodagu, president of JCE Udupi City, will preside over the inaugural proceedings.
At the same gathering, director JP Tuminad unveiled the teaser of the upcoming film Kovi Aat Kollu, which Basuma Kodagu directs and Emperia Entertainment produces.
The first night will showcase the play Chhatrapati Shivaji, directed by Vijayakumar Kodiyal Bail. The following day, September 10, will feature a magic act by Kudroli Ganesh.
September 11 brings the Kapu theatre troupe’s production Vikram Veda, while September 13 will see JP Tuminad’s own direction of Kathe Eddendu.
On September 14, from 4 pm, audiences can watch Annonya Kupuli Parantiya, and the day concludes with a Nritya Vibhava performance by artists of Savitri Natyashala.
The final day, September 15, includes a Yakshaputthal Trust presentation from Kasaragod and a Yakshagana Gombe Yata performance, after which Vati will conduct the closing ceremony.
Attending the press briefing were Jaycee President Pallavi Kodagu, Vanasuma Forum Vice President Bhaskar UK and cultural commentator Kavyavani Kodagu, all of whom highlighted the festival's role in promoting regional arts.
