Udupi, September 7 – Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake announced that the state cabinet will convene in Mangalore for the first time, where a detailed blueprint for coastal development programmes will be tabled.
Speaking to block presidents and party leaders inside the Udupi District Congress Bhavan, Sorake highlighted the need to codify the plan before the cabinet, stressing its importance for the coastal belt.
He also drew attention to Bharat Jodo, a Karnataka government initiative aimed at energising rural youth. The scheme allocates up to 10 lakh rupees annually to the organisation, enabling youngsters to take part in social service and Sanskrit activities while linking them to employment and industrial opportunities.
Udupi District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavuru criticised the BJP for rolling out guarantee schemes in states it governs, alleging that the party seeks to create doubt about Gyzantis in Karnataka. Kodavuru urged the formation of guarantee‑implementation committees at the village level to complement projects that empower women economically.
The gathering featured a long list of party functionaries, including Dinesh Malavalli, Harish Kini, Roshani Olivera, Dinesh Putran, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Hariprasad Rai, block presidents Ramesh Kanchan, Gopinath Bhat, Y. Sukumar, Santosh Kulal, Subhoda Rao Karkala, Madan Kumar, Mahabala Kunder, Naveen Chandra Suvarna, Anand Pujari Byndur, Chandrasekhar Shetty Kundapur, Gopal Bangera Kota, Roshan Shetty, Jaya Kumar, Lakshish Shetty, Ashok Kumar Ermal, Lakshman Pujari, and others. District spokesperson Bhaskara Rao Kidiyur welcomed the attendees, while Mahila Zilla Congress President Jyoti Hebbar delivered the vote of thanks.
