On August 16, at the government higher primary school in Padukuduru, Mumbai-based entrepreneur Paduparankala Harish Shetty spoke about the contributions of the region to the country’s freedom struggle. He was addressing a gathering at the 80th Independence Day celebrations and the first annual MD Adhikari Freedom Fighter Award ceremony, jointly organized by the school and the Padukuduru MD Adhikari Youth Club. Harish Shetty praised the efforts of the school’s teachers, development committee, parents, and alumni in saving the school, which now has 101 students. He expressed hope that the number would increase to 150 by the time of the school’s centenary celebrations in December. Meanwhile, Sudhakar Shetty from Padukuduru Kambalamane was awarded the first MD Adhikari Freedom Fighter Award. In his acceptance speech, Sudhakar Shetty expressed gratitude, stating that receiving the award on August 15, his birthday, was a memorable moment. The event also saw the felicitation of students who excelled in the SSLC and PU exams, with 16 students receiving cash awards. Additionally, teachers Harish Poojari and Shankar Shetty were honored for their achievements. The program was attended by various dignitaries, including Prasanna Shetty, the president of the school’s alumni association, who delivered a speech praising Sudhakar Shetty’s selfless service to the community.
