On October 18, a protest march will be held from Brahmrakootlu to the District Collector’s office in Mangalore, demanding the removal of the Brahmrakootlu toll plaza in Bantwala taluk. Anwar Sadat, SDPI Mangalore Rural District President, announced this at a press conference on Friday. The toll plaza, which was set up 15 years ago, still collects fees ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 350 from over 10,000 vehicles that ply on this road daily. Sadat criticized the lack of basic amenities like toilets, cranes, and ambulances at the toll plaza, despite regular fee collection. The party will begin its padayatra at 9:30 am and reach the District Collector’s office at 4:30 pm, seeking the toll’s removal. Sadat questioned the silence of district MPs, MLAs, and the administration on this issue, asking if they receive a share of the collected money. Party leaders Akbar Ali BC Road, Yasin Arkula, and Akbar Raza were present at the press conference.
