Karkala is set to host its 24th Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelna this November at Rajeshwari National School, Sanur. This significant decision emerged from a meeting of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad's Udupi district Karkala taluk unit office bearers, held on August 7 at Hotel Prakash in Karkala.
Presiding over the gathering, Kondalli Prabhakara Shetty, President of the Kasapa taluk unit, lauded the literary enthusiasm prevalent among Karkala taluk's residents and their consistent support for cultural programs. Shetty highlighted the remarkable success of all previous literary conferences, underscoring the active involvement of Kasapa members in promoting Nadu-Nudi service.
Discussions during the meeting also focused on several upcoming initiatives. Office bearers deliberated on organizing a dedicated taluk convention for Kasapa's life members. Additionally, plans were discussed for hosting a literary contest and a poetry competition, catering to students, teachers, and local literature enthusiasts. The upcoming Sammelna's president will be selected in the coming days, pending approval from the district committee, Prabhakara Shetty confirmed.
Prominent personalities attending the meeting included businessman Dr. Ravindra Shetty Bajagoli, Kasapa District Representative S. Nithyananda Pai, and program organizer Raghuveer Shenai Mundkur. Other office bearers present were Sulochana, B.V. Shailaja Hegde, Dr. Sumathi, Dharanendra Kumar, Ashish Shetty, Devdas Naik, Ramesh Prabhu, Thippeswami Challakere, alongside many other members. Organizing Secretary Ganesh Jalsoor narrated the proceedings, while Honorary Secretary Devdas Keremane concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks.
