Social activist Ahimsa Chetan announced the launch of a new regional political party in Mangalore on Saturday, aiming to build an equal society in Karnataka based on constitutional principles, equality, and social justice. Chetan visited Mangalore and spoke to the media, emphasizing the need for a pro-people administration to address the current government’s attitude and political developments. He plans to unite people’s fighters and organizers to build an alternative political power at the state level. A big conference is scheduled to take place in Hubli in January to officially launch the party, with preparations underway to register the party’s name. Chetan will be traveling across the state, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, to organize the party.
Chetan expressed skepticism about Upendra’s Prajaka party, questioning its understanding of societal problems. He also opposed the Bidadi Township plan, which he believes unfairly takes away farmers’ land in the name of development, and criticized the government for promoting only Bangalore while ignoring other regions. Chetan welcomed women’s reservation but pointed out the lack of women’s representation in the state Congress government, accusing Rahul Gandhi of not providing adequate representation to women in the state cabinet. Additionally, Chetan criticized the NEET system, calling it flawed and advocating for the state CET model to prioritize local students without central interference.
