On August 6, in Udupi, concerns were raised about the lack of infrastructure at Ajjarakadu Park, a popular public picnic spot in the city. Despite its popularity, the park fails to provide visitors with basic amenities like sheds to shelter from rain and intense sun. Hundreds of people, including senior citizens, women, and children, visit the park daily, only to find themselves seeking refuge in nearby buildings or auto-rickshaw stands during sudden rain or intense sunlight. This has caused significant inconvenience to the public. Regular visitors have expressed displeasure over the absence of covered seating arrangements, which deters them from spending time in the park, especially during the rainy season and hot sunny days. Social activist M. Iqbal Manna has urged the authorities to construct shelter sheds at strategic locations within the park, emphasizing the need for basic amenities to ensure visitor safety and convenience. He has appealed to the city council to prioritize this work, enabling Ajjarakadu Park to meet the standards expected of a major public park in Udupi. By addressing this issue, the park can become a more welcoming and comfortable space for the community.
