On Thursday, at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, the Guwahati Royals secured a decisive five-wicket victory over the Nagaon Rangers in the Assam Premier League 2026. Rishav Das, the skipper, played a pivotal role in the chase with a remarkable 60, receiving substantial support from Sanjay Kumar Singh, who scored 45 off 31 deliveries. The Nagaon Rangers, who batted first, struggled to gain momentum, ultimately posting a total of 151/7. Deepak Gohain and Bastab Roy excelled with the ball, each claiming three wickets to restrict the Rangers. The Rangers suffered an early setback, losing Ruhinandan Pegu in the first over, and later, Deepak Gohain dismantled the middle order, dismissing Jitu Ali, Abhijot Singh Sidhu, and Bishal Roy. Bastab Roy also made a significant impact, claiming the crucial wicket of Anurag Talukdar in the 7th over. The Rangers continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were soon struggling at 85/6 in the 12th over. However, a late surge from Bhargav Dutta, who scored an unbeaten 42 off 32 balls, helped the Rangers post a competitive total. In response, the Guwahati Royals lost opener Rohit Sen early but Sanjay Kumar Singh and Rishav Das stabilized the innings with a 97-run partnership. Although the Royals lost four wickets in quick succession, the middle order ensured a comfortable victory, with Gunjan Jyoti Deka and Nipan Deka remaining unbeaten to guide their team to 152/5 in 18.3 overs.
