On August 5, District Collector Swaroop T.K. stated that the voter list revision process in Udupi district is nearing its final stage. As of now, out of the total 10,63,876 voters in the district, 9,99,534 have been digitally enumerated, marking a progress of 93.95%. This was announced during a meeting with representatives of various political parties at the district collector’s office in Manipal.
During the door-to-door enumeration process, it was found that 21,186 voters had passed away. Additionally, 64,328 voters were identified as being ineligible due to various reasons such as migration, death, and duplicate entries. The district collector also announced that the number of polling booths in the district has been increased by 131, bringing the total to 1,243.
The revision process aims to ensure that voters have a polling booth within 2 kilometers of their residence. The district collector urged citizens who have not yet filled out the enumeration forms to do so immediately and submit them to the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO). The meeting was attended by leaders of various political parties, including Congress, JD(S), and BJP.
According to the State Election Commission, Udupi district has achieved the highest digital enumeration rate in the state, with 93.95% of the forms being digitized. The district has also removed 64,328 names from the voter list due to various reasons, which is the lowest in the state. The commission’s website has published the details of the removed names.
