On August 3, 2026, schools in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulki, and Ullal taluks will remain closed due to the ongoing rain in Dakshina Kannada district, as announced by DC Darshan. The decision was made as a precautionary measure based on the weather forecast from the India Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre. The Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday for all Anganwadi centers, government, aided, and private primary and high schools up to 10th standard in the specified taluks. Additionally, all residential schools in these areas will also remain closed. The district administration has warned that legal action will be taken against those who violate this order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The authorities have also issued guidelines for parents, fishermen, and tourists, advising them to exercise caution and avoid low-lying areas, lakes, riverbanks, and seashores. District and taluk level officers have been instructed to remain at their headquarters and carry out disaster management duties. The administration has also directed concerned departmental officers to open and keep care centers ready in every taluk.
