On Saturday, Bantwala MLA Rajesh Naik directed the Ulippadiguthu taluk administration to take pre-emptive measures as the water level of the Netravati river surged significantly due to continuous heavy rains in the Ghat area and coastal regions. The water level, which was recorded at 5.7 meters at 4 pm, rose to 7.7 meters, nearing the danger level of 8.5 meters. With further rainfall, the water level is likely to rise, prompting officials to take immediate action. MLA Rajesh Naik instructed Tehsildar Manjunath to evacuate riverside residents to safe areas and provide necessary precautions if the river water reaches the danger level. Around 30 houses in the Panemangaluru-Aladka area are at risk of flooding, with water already reaching the steps of six houses. As a precaution, 15 households have been advised to relocate to safer areas. Low-lying areas such as Kanchikarpet, Bastipadpu, and Jakribettu are also at risk of flooding. Tehsildar Manjunath and Municipal Chief Theerthaprasad assured that the taluk administration is closely monitoring the situation and will take further measures if necessary. The public has been urged to be cautious and follow the administration’s instructions. Arrangements have been made to open porridge centers at the S.V.S. School and Panemangalore Sharda High School, with Municipal Chief Theerthaprasad appointed as the nodal officer to oversee emergency operations.
