On Friday, a distinctive program called 'Ambedkar Odu' took place at the college auditorium in Mangaluru, organized in association with the Kannada and Culture Department and Sri Gokarnanatheshwara PU College. Prof. Mohan S. Singhe, Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare at Mangalore University, emphasized that Ambedkar's life and achievements serve as a model for individuals, highlighting his dedication to reading and hard work. Singhe noted that through reading, one can bridge the gap created by societal distancing. Rajesh G., Assistant Director of the Kannada and Culture Department, also spoke, stressing the importance of continuous study in changing societal perspectives, and encouraged students to engage in reading rather than spending time on mobile phones.
Vasanth Karandur, Convener of the college, presided over the event, which was attended by prominent figures including Raghuraj Kadri, Principal of Gokarnanatheshwara PU College, Nagesh Karkera, Administrative Officer, and Jeevika, student union leader. The program included the distribution of prizes to winners of essay and speech competitions on the topic 'Ambedkar's Biography', with recipients including Akshay Kumar, Prathijna Devika, Madhu, Jeevan, and Devanand. The event was compered by NSS Program Officer Vanitha Shetty, with lecturer Vasanth extending a welcome and lecturer Bharathi offering a vote of thanks.
