Mangalore, June 31: Dakshina Kannada District Congress Scheduled Caste Division President Dinesh Mulur today lambasted BJP leaders, including Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, accusing them of making 'provocative and irresponsible statements' against Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi. Mulur asserted that these criticisms serve as a desperate tactic to divert public attention from the Narendra Modi government's perceived failures at the Centre.

Addressing the press, Mulur condemned the BJP's approach, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national prestige is waning due to what he termed the central government's 'blatant lies, continuous price hike, and series of irregularities.' He alleged that BJP leaders resort to such statements out of desperation, aiming to shift focus from these serious national concerns.

Mulur specifically highlighted the central government's alleged inaction on several critical issues. He pointed to the unaddressed NEET exam question paper leak scandal, the reported theft at a temple in Ayodhya, and the relentless rise in the prices of essential commodities like petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and other consumer goods. He criticized the government for its failure to provide concrete responses to these pressing matters.

The Congress leader also took particular aim at Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna's recent remarks. Mulur contended that Suvarna's strategy of 'sitting on the owl' (a local idiom implying irrelevant or misguided criticism) regarding Rahul Gandhi, merely to cover up his own party's shortcomings, exposes the ideological weakness of the MLA. Such statements, Mulur warned, risk disturbing societal peace.

Dinesh Mulur demanded that BJP leaders immediately cease what he described as 'desperate politics' and instead act responsibly as people's representatives. He called for the Modi government to transparently address the issues of price hikes and irregularities, and insisted that Yashpal Suvarna issue a public apology for his statements.
