On July 27-29, the Department of Basic Sciences at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT) in Mangaluru hosted a three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Recent Trends in Applied Sciences’. The program was organized in collaboration with the BIT–IEEE Student Branch, the institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The event brought together academicians, researchers, and faculty members from various institutions to explore emerging developments in science and technology. BIT Principal Dr. C. Kamalakannan delivered the welcome address during the inaugural ceremony, which emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing contemporary engineering and scientific challenges. Dr. Anjum Khan, Head of the Department of Basic Sciences, was the program convener. Over the course of three days, six lectures were delivered by eminent academicians from prestigious educational institutions. The topics covered included ‘Mathematics of GPS’ by Dr. C. R. Pradeep, ‘AI-Driven Network Intrusion Detection Systems’ by Dr. Mehboob Mujawar, ‘Physics in Quantum Computing and Quantum Technology’ by Dr. Nagaraja D., ‘Modeling of Bio Heat Transfer Problem Using Computational Fluid Dynamics’ by Dr. Ranjith M., ‘Electrochemical Work Stations Revolutionizing Scientific Exploration Across Disciplines’ by Dr. Sudhakar Y. N., and a lecture by Dr. Pooja Kumari. The program provided a platform for faculty members to gain insights into recent trends in applied sciences and explore opportunities for collaboration and research.
