On June 29, Udupi District Collector Swarup T.K. announced that the Special Comprehensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list in Udupi district has achieved a digitization progress of 92.83%. This milestone was reached after 9,87587 census forms out of a total 10,63,876 voters were digitized. The Collector made this statement while presiding over a meeting at the Manipal Rajatadri Collectorate Hall, where the action to be taken by political parties on the special comprehensive revision of the electoral roll was discussed.
Collector Swarup T.K. emphasized the importance of ensuring no voter is excluded from the voter list during the revision process. He urged political parties, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to cooperate in preparing the draft voter list. The district has a total of 1112 polling booths, with 733 booths completing the 100% digitization process. Verification has been completed in 562 booths, while minor verification is pending in 171 booths.
During house visits, it was found that 19,840 voters had passed away, 24,679 voters were permanently transferred, and 7521 new voters registered. The BLOs visited houses from June 1 to June 29 and distributed previously printed forms in duplicate, which are nearing completion of digitization. The Collector stated that completing this process quickly would facilitate the distribution of the draft voter list to political parties.
Leaders of various political parties, including Congress, BJP, and JDS, attended the meeting and expressed their cooperation in the SIR work. They noted that government employees, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, and BLAs are actively involved in the process. Additional District Collector Abid Gadyal was also present at the meeting.
