Udupi DC Urges All Eligible Voters to Join Special Electoral Roll Revision Drive
Udupi District Commissioner Swaroop T. K. has called upon every eligible voter in the district to actively participate in the special comprehensive revision of the electoral roll. He made this appeal on Tuesday while inaugurating a training programme for elected representatives, supervisors, polling officers, and polling agents of the Kundapura Assembly constituency at Bhandarkars College in Kundapura.
Preparing the voter list under the Representation of the People Act is a constitutional duty, the DC noted. Across the country, the special comprehensive revision of electoral rolls is now underway. He explained that the 2025 voter list is being mapped and linked to family lineages from the 2002 electoral roll, ensuring no eligible voter is left out.
From June 30 to July 29, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes for 10 days, handing out pre-printed forms in duplicate. Voters must fill out these forms completely, attach a recent photograph, sign them, and return one copy to the officer. If a form is not submitted, the BLO will make up to three home visits to collect it.
Officials have been instructed to take the revision process seriously and ensure no eligible voter is omitted. Those who fail to submit the enumeration form or whose form is not uploaded online risk having their names dropped from the final list. The DC highlighted that electoral rolls will be revised four times a year — on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 — allowing those who turn 18 to apply as new voters.
Master Trainer Gangadhar outlined the schedule: preparatory work and training from June 20 to 29, door-to-door surveys by BLOs from June 30 to July 29, rationalisation of polling stations on July 29, publication of the draft roll on August 5, public objections from August 5 to September 4, disposal of objections by October 3, and final publication of the electoral roll on October 7.
During the session, booth-level officers and BLOs raised queries about the revision process and received clarifications. Additional DC Abeed Gadyal, Assistant Commissioner Rashmi, Kundapura Tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar, Santosh Kumar and Sadanand from the education department, along with BLOs and BLAs, were present.
