On July 26, at Mangalore International Airport, a remarkable display of honesty and prompt response by ground transport security personnel and the Central Industrial Security Force ensured the safe return of a lost purse to its owner. Vithal Hosmani, a security guard, spotted a small black purse abandoned on a luggage trolley in the lower parking area at 6:15 am. He quickly alerted the QRT team of CISF, who in turn called in the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and dog squad to investigate. After a thorough search, the teams confirmed that the purse did not contain any dangerous items. The purse belonged to Nishal Shaheek, a passenger who had arrived from Dubai on Air India Express flight IX814, and contained a passport, iPhone, gold ring, 10,000 US dollars, 500 UAE dirhams, and bank cards, totaling approximately Rs 9,11,000. Using the boarding pass found in the purse, the airport authorities were able to contact Nishal Shaheek and arrange for the purse to be returned to him when he came back to the airport. The successful recovery and return of the purse are a testament to the efficiency and integrity of the airport’s security personnel.
