On Saturday, Udupi District Congress Committee office bearers gathered at the Brahmavar Udupi District Congress office, where AICC observer Himmatsingh Patel outlined the process for selecting a new district president. The move is part of the party’s organization revitalization campaign, aiming to strengthen the party from the grassroots level. Patel explained that the selection process involves gathering opinions from local leaders, including former MLAs, ministers, MPs, elected representatives, and party officials. Six names will be shortlisted and recommended to the high command. The selection is expected to be completed within a month, with the new district president to be announced by the end of August.
The party is looking to infuse new energy into its ranks, with a focus on social justice and representation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and women. The selection process will involve consultations with local leaders, candidates, and political leaders, with the aim of identifying a new leader who can strengthen the party at the district level. MLC Ivan D’Souza, who also spoke at the press conference, emphasized the party’s commitment to revitalizing its organization and promoting new leadership.
