On the last day of the extended Budget Session of the West Bengal Assembly, Saturday, the state government is set to table the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, which is expected to reveal financial corruption during the previous government’s tenure. In Kolkata, the West Bengal Assembly will witness three significant proceedings, including the tabling of the CAG report, which will highlight the income and expenditures from the state exchequer. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has stated that the report will be crucial in exposing financial corruption, including distribution of relief in cases of natural disasters, and that no one, including ministers, will be spared. The state government will recommend to the Governor to register FIRs against those involved in corruption.
The day’s proceedings will also include the Chief Minister’s statement on the investigations into allegations surrounding the free Sebaashray health camp run by Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in his Diamond Harbour constituency. Additionally, West Bengal Panchayat Affairs & Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh will table a crucial Bill, followed by a two-hour discussion. The six-day extended Budget Session, which started on July 20, was dedicated to discussions on budgetary allotments for different state government departments, including a discussion on the budgetary allocation for the state home department on July 22, the first such discussion in 14 years.
