On June 24, thousands of students in Udupi district took to the streets in Manipal, calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest, which began at Manipal Coin Circle and ended at the DC office, was a response to the leak of the NEET exam question paper. Students chanted slogans against the Central Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, demanding justice for the affected students. The protest was supported by students at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, who have been demonstrating for the past few days. At the district collector’s office, students displayed placards and pamphlets, condemning the central government’s failure to prevent the question paper leak, which has resulted in the loss of over 20 lives. The students observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the deceased students. Rohan Machado, who led the protest, emphasized that education is a fundamental right and that the government has failed to protect it. He demanded the immediate resignation of the Education Minister, stating that he should not continue in office. The protest was attended by several leaders, including June Mehti, Udupi Coexistence President Prof. K. Phaniraj, and Dalit Sangharsh Samiti leaders Shyamraj Birti and Prashant Birti.
