On Thursday, students at Srinivasa Vishwa Vidyalaya Institute of Engineering and Technology in Mangalore showcased their innovative projects, including an AI-based automatic electric vehicle and an AI reception robot. The AI-based automatic electric vehicle, named Shri Vahan, was developed using artificial intelligence technology and features state-of-the-art technologies such as lidar, AI vision system, GPS-based navigation, and artificial intelligence assistant. This vehicle can travel on a predetermined route fully automatically and has the potential to be used for safe movement of people and quick transportation of patients in hospitals. The vehicle can travel at a speed of 28 kmph in manual mode and 5 kmph in automatic mode. The total cost of the project was around ₹4 to 5 lakh and was completed in just six months with the financial support of the University Governing Council.
Alongside the electric vehicle, the students also showcased Srinibot, an AI-based reception and information assistant robot designed specifically for Srinivas University. The demonstration program was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. A. Srinivasa Rao, Chancellor of Srinivasa University, A. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, member of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Satyanarayana Reddy, Vice-Chancellor. The event highlighted the technological talent and innovation potential of the students at the university.
