Gajuwaka Grievances: Assembly Panel Orders Time-Bound Action on Land, Housing Issues
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee has directed officials to resolve long-standing public grievances in the Gajuwaka constituency within fixed deadlines. Committee Chairman K. Raghurama Krishnam Raju announced this after a review meeting at the Collectorate on Tuesday (23-06-2026).
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Raju said the panel examined 14 petitions submitted by Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao. Committee members Ganta Srinivasa Rao, P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, and Konathala Ramakrishna joined the discussions. Officials from multiple departments also participated.
A key issue involved residential localities placed under prohibited lands listed in Section 22-A of the Registration Act. Residents of Vadlapudi, Chinagantyada, Kurmannapalem, Mindi, Peddagantyada, and Jaggarajupeta face hurdles in property registration and housing finance due to these restrictions. The committee ordered village-wise verification and a comprehensive report from officials.
Other grievances included regularisation of long-settled colonies, rehabilitation of families displaced by Pharma City, problems faced by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant evacuees, pending compensation and Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) for acquired lands, compensation claims of Akkireddypalem farmers, livelihood issues of Gangavaram fishing communities, ownership rights in housing colonies, utilisation of industrial lands, and concerns over proposed road widening under the master plan.
Mr. Raju noted that affected residents attended the meeting, helping the panel understand ground realities. 'Fixing deadlines will ensure faster resolution,' he added. MLA Srinivasa Rao expressed confidence that issues like the 22-A land problem would see progress in the coming months.
Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, District Revenue Officer V. Visweswara Naidu, Revenue Divisional Officer Dilip Chakravarthy, and other officials were present.
