On June 4, Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) collaborated with the Embassy of India in Qatar, the Ministry of Municipality’s Public Parks Department, and Doha Municipality to organize a tree-planting event at the Old Airport Park in Doha, Qatar. This initiative marked a significant demonstration of environmental commitment and international cooperation. The event commenced at 7:30 AM, with the theme “Let’s take care of nature, because nature has taken care of us.” His Excellency Mr. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar, and Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission, attended the event, along with Qatari governmental authorities, including Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed, Assistant Director of the Public Parks Department.
The event highlighted the importance of community engagement in fostering sustainable urban development. Ambassador Vipul emphasized the universal imperative of nurturing urban greenery, stating that initiatives like these build lasting ecological legacies for future generations and reinforce the friendship between nations. Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed commended the active participation of the Indian diaspora, emphasizing its significant contribution to accelerating local environmental objectives. The central component of the event involved the symbolic planting of native saplings by the diplomatic delegation and municipal officials, followed by the planting of additional trees by corporate volunteers and community members.
The KSQ Managing Committee, led by President Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, oversaw the seamless execution of the event. Mr. Hebbagelu expressed appreciation to the local authorities for their logistical support, which was pivotal to the success of the undertaking. The event served as a poignant observance of World Environment Day, highlighting the crucial role of community engagement in fostering sustainable urban development.
