On a day marked by chaos, TV actor Sehban Azim was lathi-charged at the Cockroach Janata Party protest in Delhi on a recent day. Azim had joined the protest at Jantar Mantar to show his support for the students fighting against NEET paper leaks. However, the peaceful protest took a violent turn, and the actor was left injured while trying to protect two women accompanying him.
According to Azim, the police had put up barricades around the area and launched a lathicharge on the protesters before they could even reach the designated protest site. The actor claimed that he was hit on his arm, legs, and all over his body while shielding his female friends from Mumbai. Azim took to social media to share his ordeal, saying it was an extremely heartbreaking sight to witness.
Azim expressed concern for the students who had travelled long distances to voice their opinion and stand up for what’s right. He recalled interacting with several of them and learning about the hardships they had endured just to make their voices heard. The actor said his heart goes out to the kids who had come for the protest, many of whom had travelled for days through trains and buses and didn’t even have proper shoes to wear.
The police brutality at the protest has sparked widespread outrage, with many celebrities coming out in support of the students. Azim’s injury has added to the growing concern about the safety of peaceful protesters. As the protest continues, many are hoping that the government will meet the students’ demands and put an end to the violence.
