Udupi's Yakshagana Kalaranga recently concluded a three-day residential camp designed for 82 final year degree students, culminating in a valedictory function held Thursday at the institution's IVC Auditorium. The initiative aimed to equip young talent with essential skills for employment and societal integration.
Addressing the gathering, senior educationist Prof. Sakharama Somayaji highlighted the significant utility of such residential programs, particularly in preparing degree-level students for the job market. He commended Yakshagana Kalaranga's Vidya Poshak initiative, which provides financial assistance and guidance to talented, economically disadvantaged students, enabling them to achieve respectable positions.
Camp director Praveen Gudi expressed a deep personal connection to the institution, stating, "Yakshagana Kalaranga feels like home to me. The love and trust from its members are truly unique." Gudi advocated for organizing more such camps to further develop student skills and empower them to secure employment in today's competitive world.
Throughout the camp, various resource persons, including the director, offered practical guidance on crucial areas. Students received instruction on resume writing, interview techniques, developing essential skills and human values, and preparation strategies for competitive examinations. Campers Dhruva Devadiga, Nagendra Bhat, Misba Kausar, Nishchith, Abhijna Hegde, and Hanumavva shared their positive experiences, underscoring the program's impact.
The dais featured prominent personalities including U. Vishwanath Shenoy, Vijayakumar Mudradi, Vilasini B. Shenoy, Taradevi, Vishnumurthy Prabhu, and Bhuvanaprasad Hegde. Institution members Marne Umesh Bhat, Anantaraja Upadhyaya, N. Rama Bhat, and A. Nagabhushana Bhat also participated in the proceedings. M. Gangadhara Rao, President of Yakshagana Kalaranga, extended a warm welcome, while Narayana M. Hegde proposed the vote of thanks. Vidyaprasad offered cooperation, and Secretary Murali Kadekar expertly compered the program after his introductory remarks.
