Udupi DC: Display of treatment fees mandatory
Udupi: All hospitals, clinics that are registered under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, should mandatorily install a board displaying the list with treatment cost and details about doctors, Udupi DC G Jagadeesha said.
The board should be clearly visible to patients, DC added, while presiding over a meeting at the DC Hall on Tuesday.
He directed the Health department officials to verify whether hospitals have displayed the cost of treatment in hospitals. During the renewal under KMPE Act, officials should ensure that hospitals and clinics fulfill the conditions. There is a need to crack down on quacks operating in the district. The license of those hospitals that have failed to renew its license under KMPE Act should be cancelled, the DC ordered.
The DC directed the officials to ensure that there was no steep decline in sex ratio of children in the district. Gram Panchayats where the sex ratio is 1000:750 should be prepared and the reason for the steep fall in the sex ratio should be analysed. The officials should conduct raid on the scanning centres that are engaged in sex determination of the foetus. Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, DHO Dr Nagabhushan Udupa and others were present.
