On July 20, Karkala Sahitya Sangh will confer the Prof. M. Ramachandra Memorial Award 2026 on Mahabala K., a distinguished teacher from Kirimanjeshwar in Udupi district’s Byndur taluk. Mahabala K. has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in promoting Kannada language and literature among students. As a literary teacher, he has made significant contributions to children’s literature, including poetry, stories, and nursery rhymes. His notable works include the poetry collections ‘Inde Shokul Baramma’ and ‘Gana Vanasiri’, with the poem ‘Nenapinole’ winning a state-level award. Mahabala K. has also received several accolades for his school’s environmental initiatives, including the cluster-level best school award and district-level green school award. The award ceremony will take place at Prakash Hotel in Karkala, with Swami Vireshananda Saraswati of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram, Tumkur, and Udupi Diet Principal Ashok Kamath participating in the event, which will be chaired by Sahitya Sangh President K.P. Shenai.
