On June 11, Mangalore City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy announced that 35,160 pending traffic violation cases have been resolved with a 50% discount. This development comes after the state government offered a 50% concession on pending fines for traffic rule violations from June 21 to June 10. Under the City Police Commissionerate, a special operation was conducted to clear these cases, resulting in the collection of 92,43,400 in fines. Motorists paid their dues online or in person at police stations, closing their cases. The resolved cases include 18,792 violations captured by automated cameras and 16,368 instances recorded by police officers. Additionally, the police have moved to suspend the driving licenses of 224 motorists involved in serious accidents or traffic violations, with 137 licenses already suspended and the rest pending. The goal of this initiative is to enhance road safety and strictly enforce traffic rules in Mangalore.
