On a recent day, in Sullia, a press conference was held where Shama Shaheed, the wife of KPCC Secretary and Chairman of the Karnataka State Minimum Wages Advisory Board, T.M. Shahid Tekkil, accused her husband of committing irregularities in property and document papers. She alleged that he misused his power, gave her talaq, and is now preparing for another marriage. Shama Shaheed revealed that during their 25 years of married life, she mostly stayed at her mother’s house and has been living with her mother’s help for the past 9 years. She claimed that her husband sold 100 pavans of gold, which they received during their marriage, within just one year. Furthermore, he used the power of attorney for her properties in Aranthodu village to take loans from cooperative societies, which he has not repaid. Shama Shaheed also stated that she is the owner of Tekkil Gas Agency, and her husband, as a partner, is cheating her by not giving her share of the profits. She expressed her concerns about his behavior, saying he claims to have a gun and uses his power to intimidate her. A discussion had taken place in the presence of ministers and leaders, where it was agreed that Rs. 75 lakh would be given, she said. During the Corona period, she signed documents regarding the gas agency renewal based on a phone call from Saleem Ahmed. Shama Shaheed obtained a court injunction to prevent bank loans and sale of her buildings. Despite filing a complaint with the Women’s Commission via email, she alleged that it has been of no use.
