On Monday, Tibetans and millions of followers worldwide came together to celebrate the 91st birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. The Central Tibetan Administration offered heartfelt birthday greetings, praying for the Dalai Lama’s continued good health and long life. Despite the Dalai Lama being in Leh, Ladakh, for an extended stay after a successful left knee replacement surgery in New Delhi, huge crowds gathered at the Tsuglagkhang temple in McLeodganj to join the celebrations. The International Buddhist Confederation extended its deepest respect and greetings, acknowledging the Dalai Lama’s lifelong dedication to compassion, humanity, peace, and universal values. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Ministers Pema Khandu, Prem Singh Tamang, and N Chandrababu Naidu also extended birthday wishes, praising the Dalai Lama’s message of kindness, dialogue, and mutual respect. The celebrations were a testament to the Dalai Lama’s profound impact on people worldwide. A Tibetan follower expressed hope that one day they would celebrate the Dalai Lama’s birthday in front of the Potala Palace in Lhasa without China’s oppression. The Dalai Lama’s teachings and guidance have brought peace, harmony, and the light of Dharma to all sentient beings, and his followers continue to pray for his long and healthy life.
